Memorial Inscriptions – Heley

These pages contain selected memorial inscriptions from the churchyard or interior of All Saint’s Church, Wing. Any bits in brackets I’m not 100% sure of as it’s hard to see in the photos. If you’ve visited Wing you’ve probably got photos or notes about the gravestones for your families. If so, please share them by emailing me (the higher the resolution the better). For more surnames, please check the Memorial Inscriptions Index.

Gravestone of Thomas Heley died 1851 Wing Buckinghamshire

In memory of Thomas HELEY Born Dec [xx] 1799 died [xxx] [xx] 1851
Also of [xxx] [Sus]anna Heley

(the rest of gravestone is engraved down to grass level but is now unreadable. Based on the gravestone index produced in 1986 it’s believed to include the following children:  John died 1830 aged 2 1/2, Mary died 1832 aged 7, and twins John and Thomas who were buried a week apart in 1841 aged 8. Another daughter, Catharine, died in 1845 aged 22 but is not on the index, while the index includes a Susannah died 1845 – however this is not Thomas’ wife Susannah who has a separate gravestone, while “Susanna” on this gravestone has another name in front of it so I suspect this is daughter Catharine now with a middle name of Susanna.)
